Power Amplifier

The A308

dual mono power amplifier is a killer. It's rated at 250 watts per channel, and can deliver blockbusting

current, high voltage and, at the same time, it has incredibly low distortion over a very wide bandwidth and loading

range.

Inside the A308

dual mono power amp is Musical Fidelity's latest circuitry, with a completely separate power

supply for the output stage. The printed circuit board layout used new techniques that we have developed

alongside the circuitry. As a result, the performance is almost unbelievable. For example, distortion at 40kHz is

less than 0.01% (that's not a typo).

This amplifier has colossal headroom, slam and attack, and yet it is incredibly detailed and sweet. A particular

quality of the A308

power amp is its extraordinary delicacy which, at first acquaintance, has the subtlety and

pinpoint accuracy normally associated with small amplifiers. But the transient attack is something else again.

Many people have mistaken the A308

's extraordinary cleanness for lack of power. This is because the massive

power makes it nearly impossible to clip or over-drive the A308

power amp and, as it's always running easily, it

will never produce any harsh sounds or unpredictable distortion patterns.
